Voyage of Elegance – Cunard
Early this year, in January 2025, I embarked on a 7-night journey aboard Cunard’s majestic Queen Elizabeth, sailing from Sydney to Cairns. It was truly a memorable journey that gave me firsthand insight into the exceptional experiences Cunard cruising offers.
My time aboard the Queen Elizabeth was truly unforgettable, offering the perfect balance of relaxation, entertainment, and luxury. One of my favourite ways to unwind was lounging by the pool with a cocktail in hand, soaking in the atmosphere. Just steps away, the spa area provided everything needed for a rejuvenating escape—complete with a sauna, jacuzzi, salon services, and a range of spa treatments.
The staff were always friendly and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable. For those looking to stay active, the well-equipped gym offered a variety of fitness classes throughout the voyage.
Dining on board was another highlight. The main dining hall featured an excellent buffet with a wide array of delicious options, while the steakhouse stood out with its first-class service and expertly crafted dishes. Evenings often took me to the Golden Lion, where live music created a warm and relaxed atmosphere most nights.
For a more vibrant nightlife, the Yacht Club was the place to be. It offered an energetic setting, especially during karaoke nights. Right next door, the Commodore Club provided a quieter, more sophisticated space to enjoy expertly made cocktails. Both venues were well-attended and full of life most evenings.
Another standout feature was the ship’s theatre. Whether attending a talk by a guest speaker, a comedy show, or a live performance, every event was professionally done and thoroughly engaging. The seating wrapped around the stage, offering fantastic views from every angle, and if preferred, performances could even be watched from the comfort of your stateroom.
The Queen Elizabeth also houses a beautiful library spanning Decks 2 and 3, located near the heart of the ship. A striking central staircase connects the two levels, and the space is filled with hundreds of well-curated books, making it a peaceful spot to browse and relax.
No matter the time of day or night, there was always something happening on board. From dance classes and games to sporting events and enrichment activities, there was truly something for everyone. Whether you wanted to stay busy or unwind, the choice was yours.
